Coury Deeb

Coury Deeb

Founder, Director, Producer / Email Coury

Hometown: Louisville, KY

Coury Deeb is the founder and Director of Nadus. The company was born out of the passion and dedication he found when he took his first trip to Southern Sudan. A photographer by trade, Deeb found he had gifts and talents to offer to help communicate the story and needs of the Sudanese friends he met there. Deeb will tell you he thinks of himself just as someone who “is in a network of servants who desire to see change, healing, and re-bulding in the war-torn areas of Southern Sudan.” Coury is a native of Louisville KY, but spent many years living in Philadelphia, PA. He openly will tell you that Philly still holds a strong “second” in his heart.

You can find a more descriptive interview with Coury at the NADUS blog. Coming Soon.

William H. Wallace II

William H. Wallace II

Director of Photography, Editor / Email William

Hometown: Louisville, KY

Despite his dashing good looks and extraordinary courage, William Wallace is not the legendary Scottish martyr portrayed by Mel Gibson in the 1995 movie “Braveheart.” But he does love film which is why he’s made a career out of it. Born with a passion for art, William has spent his life exploring what this means. One of his earliest accomplishments was designing and sculpting the Bill Monroe “Father of Bluegrass” monument for the birthplace in Rosine, KY.
Though he has experimented with many mediums along the way, he found his love in filmmaking. He had no idea when he began an internship on an independent film set in 2003 that he would soon leave his day job and begin pursuing an unpredictable career in film and television. In 2005, William established Wallace Film and worked on the Emmy award-winning HBO film, “Warm Springs”.

Over a decade ago, William began to dream about helping suffering people around the world and has since traveled to five continents. His love of film combined with a heart to serve developing countries is what drew him to Nadus. The inspiration only deepened for this project after becoming aware of the needs and traveling to Southern Sudan.

William currently resides in Louisville, KY with his wife Lindsay where they pursue this vision together.

Favorite Movie(s): A Trip To The Moon by George Mieles is my new favorite, though it was made in 1902. I love silent film in general. Chaplin amazes me. I also love coming of age stories, particularly character studies. Michele Gondry, Cameron Crowe, Robert Rodriguez & Lars Von Trier are some of my favorite contemporary directors. They are very diverse stylistically so I obviously enjoy each for different reasons.

Favorite Book(s): Y the Last Man, Planetary, Runaways, Ex-Machina… Yes they are all comic books.

Favorite Band(s): My roots are late seventies punk rock bands such as The Ramones & The Clash. I also am a big fan of Mark Kozelik, Lucero & Jamie Barnes

Tyler Graham Deeb

Tyler Graham Deeb

Graphic Designer, 2nd Camera Man / Email Tyler

Hometown: Louisville, KY

After spending the most miserable year of his life in a college we will leave unnamed, Tyler left behind a world of early morning classes and social demands -consisting primarily of hours of Xbox and cafeteria conversation. He decided to turn over a new leaf and pursue a life less introverted and more outward-focused. In his search he talked to his brother Coury (Nadus Founder), who pointed him towards a program called ‘Mission Year’. Soon after, Tyler traded in the comforts of a self-indulgent lifestyle for the awkward inner-city streets of hilly, sunny, multi-cultured Oakland CA. And that is where his life flipped upside down. Though he had heard the Gospel message of Jesus Christ his whole life, this is where it became personal, joyful and real. But it also came with burden and responsibility. While in Oakland, Tyler worked at a homeless shelter and as a teacher’s assistant in the art department at a local high school. He found that this new life of outward service was difficult but brought much more joy than the prior years of trying to do his own thing. He also found, in California, his soulmate Noel. He returned to Louisville. She moved there a few months later. They got married. And they now use Nadus as an outlet both for their creativity and desire to serve.

Eric Bray

Production Assistant / Email Eric

Hometown: Louisville, KY

Eric Bray is really hip and everyone knows it except for him. In addition to making awesome lattes, riding his bike and organizing Saturday morning dodge-ball games, he is known around Louisville as the guy you can depend on to help you out with just about anything. You will also do well to invite him to your wedding reception because he’ll entertain all with his suave moves. Eric got his first taste of Africa in 2006 on a trip to Ethiopia. After that, he felt God gently speaking to his heart and telling him to plant his roots there. When Coury Deeb showed him his Nadus Card and the (tree) logo, he knew that this was to be the next step in his walk. A few weeks later, Nadus welcomed him on board. Here in Louisville, Eric is busy not only with his work with Nadus but with volunteering for Kentucky Refugee Ministries, and teaching ESL to refugees from all over the world.

NADUS STAFF

Lorie E. King

Nadus Staff Editor / Email Lorie

Current Hometown: Louisville, KY

Nadus Films was Lorie’s introduction to the devastating reality of the Sudanese people. Because of her love for a well-turned phrase and annoying penchant for proper grammar, not to mention the power and beauty at the heart of Nadus’ mission, she was almost too easily roped into helping Nadus say what they want to say, and say it well.

As something of a world citizen, Lorie can never easily answer the question, “So, where are you from?” Having grown up in South America and traveled the world as an adult from her own little outpost on the island of Cyprus, she finally came to land in Louisville, KY. She loves River City with all of its metropolitan yet small-town flavor. She loves all the great restaurants in town, too, because if there’s anything Ms. King likes to do, it’s eat—-Indian, Cuban, Vietnamese, Lebanese… You name it, she might just try it.
When she’s not eating, she enjoys watching “her” shows (LOST, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Chuck, Pushing Daisies), working out, watching movies, debating things with her very patient friends, making music, holding babies, hearing people laugh, and dreaming of her next travel destination.

Not a fan of superlatives, here are some faves:

Favorite Movie(s): Dirty Dancing, A Beautiful Mind, Amélie, The Bourne Trilogy, 50 First Dates, Monsters Inc., Memento, I Am Sam, A Bug’s Life

Favorite Book(s): The Physician, Message in a Bottle, The Pursuit of God, Harry Potter series, anything by Lauren Winner

Milli Clark

Nadus Medical Director

Current Hometown: Louisville, KY

Milli is a nurse, working in Open Heart Surgery Recovery and Cardiovascular ICU at Jewish Hospital. She grew up on a farm in Summersville, Kentucky- a tiny little community with only one caution light. Quickly after graduating from High School, she moved to the hopping town of Bowling Green, Kentucky to spin her wheels for a few years at college. After spending several years in Bowling Green without accomplishing “much at all” (these are her words not ours), she moved to Louisville to attend the University of Louisville, where she received a degree in nursing. If you ask her, she will tell you “ I love medicine and anatomy and love to take care of people.” The Nadus staff couldn’t be more excited to welcome Milli as a part of our team, as the Nadus Medical Director.
