Over 70% of Southern Sudan is without clean drinking water
Chances are there's a nice clear bottle of spring water on or near your desk right now. Or that you brushed your teeth this morning without a second thought as to what was lurking in the water gushing from your faucet. Millions of Sudanese put their lives in jeopardy every day by drinking the only water to which they have access. Nadus has seen this need first-hand. You will be captivated by footage of school children and pregnant women traveling to get to the river where they risk their lives to quench their thirst.
We’re not just trying to be dramatic. In Sudan, clean water is a matter of life or death. The good news is there is a solution to this problem. Is it easy? No. Will it take a long time? Yes. Our desire is to use the film "The New Sudan" to make people like you aware of the needs in Southern Sudan. However, awareness without action is like a car without gas. Which is why we’re inviting you to action, too! Welcome to the vision of Nadus.
In July of 2007, while filming for “The New Sudan” and in conjunction with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Sudan, Nadus Films was able to deliver water purifiers that can provide up to 55 gallons of clean water a minute. That means the potential for clean water for more than 10,000 people per day. An initial group of school teachers, construction workers and pastors was trained on how to use the equipment. According to one of the trainees, school teacher Margret Likiya: “[Water purification] is important because, for a long time, we are drinking this dirty water and the people in Southern Sudan are infected with diseases like cholera. That is why water purification is good for us so that we can get safe water to save our lives.”

Nadus has been invited and entrusted by the Sudanese people to tell their story. Their cry to the outside world is to come and invest in their lives. The voice of the Sudanese will be loudly heard in the full-length documentary "The New Sudan", and Nadus and its partners will give their all to making its impact substantial and sustainable.
